What is Wavelength

Want to learn new skills, expand your network and make new friends? If you are a young person aged between 14 to 25 who is seeking asylum or has refugee status, why not sign up to Gaisce – The President’s Award’s Wavelength project.

Gaisce is a direct challenge from the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins to all young people aged 14-25 to dream big and realise their potential. This challenge is for all young people currently living in Ireland – regardless of your status. If you are a refugee or seeking asylum in Ireland, then Wavelength is your chance to sign up for this challenge!

Gaisce is a self-development programme. It is non-competitive and self-directed – which means you pick the activities, and you go at your own pace. At the end
of your Gaisce journey you will gain a nationally and internationally recognised Award – a great addition to your CV.

You choose your own activities for each challenge area: develop a skill, help your community, get active and go on an adventure.

How it works

There are three levels of Gaisce – Bronze, Silver and Gold. The more time and energy you give, the greater the reward. You choose your own activities within each of the three different challenge areas. It can be new skills you want to learn or skills you are already learning that you want to develop further.

Here’s some examples below of how your Gaisce journey could look:

How Gaisce – The President’s Award Programme Works

Note: • If you already have a Bronze Award, there is no need to do an additional 26 weeks at Silver. • If you already have a Silver Award, there is no need to do an additional 26 weeks at Gold.
