📣 Invitation to Young People (18 - 24) to participate in a consultation on the development of a Well-being Framework for Ireland on Wednesday, December 1st! 📣

📧 Email deborah.sheridan@foroige.ie by Friday 26th November at midday to take part!

The Government’s Well-being project is the result of a commitment to better measure Ireland’s progress as a country, for better policy decisions linked with people’s everyday experiences. This work is being led by the Department of the Taoiseach, and Departments right across Government.

A first report was published capturing all the work done on this project to date. We are now consulting more on the Framework to create awareness and get feedback on the framework and the vision, and to get a sense of what areas are most important to people. This consultation phase involves a communications campaign, a web portal giving more information about the project, a new CSO interactive well-being Dashboard, an online survey, a large stakeholder event and workshops.

It is important that the national framework takes into account the views of young people, in particular what is important for their quality of life.

For this reason, a workshop to discuss and get feedback on the Well-being Framework for Ireland with young people: The findings of this workshop, along with wider consultation, will feed into a second report on the well-being project and in particular on the Framework for Ireland.

Gaisce are extremely grateful to all our Challenge Partners including Deaf Communications Ltd who facilitate Gaisce participants to meet the Personal Skill Challenge Area by completing a 13 week Irish Sign Language module

Deaf Communications have created a 13 week Irish Sign Language (ISL) module specifically to meet the Gaisce programme requirements. It introduces young people to ISL and also requires them to engage in an additional 6 hours of self-study. Completing this module allows Gaisce participants to meet the Personal Skill Challenge area at Bronze Award Level.

Tuesday | 23rd of November | 1pm | Have your say in the future of Ireland’s research

Gaisce are co-hosting a special Government of Ireland @merrionstreet event about #CreatingOurFuture campaign, along with a number of leading Irish youth organisations.

The online event, including a live keynote from Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, @simonharristd, is aimed at giving opportunity to as many young people as possible to have their say in this campaign.

#CreatingOurFuture is an opportunity for everyone in Ireland to give ideas on how to make a better future for all. Creating Our Future is a government-led national brainstorm that will involve the people of Ireland in a conversation on the role research can and should play in addressing opportunities, challenges and hopes for the future.

#CreatingOurFuture will ensure that the direction of research in this country is informed by the people of Ireland.

Diversity and inclusion are at the centre of the campaign.

All ideas are welcome, and we are working to engage all cohorts, regions, and demographics in the campaign.

Research and innovation have the potential to improve accessibility for underprivileged groups and we will be actively reaching out to ensure a diversity of views are represented.
