Gaisce partner holds first ever National Walking Day

Promotional image for National Walking Day 2018 by Get Ireland WalkingOur Challenge Partner, Get Ireland Walking, will hold its first ever National Walking Day on Sunday 30th September as part of European Week of Sport 2018. The day is being held on the final day of European Week of Sport which is taking place 22nd-30th September 2018, in partnership with Sport Ireland, Healthy Ireland and Local Sports Partnerships. The aim of this event is to celebrate the efforts of community walking volunteers and to promote the activity of walking at a local level in communities across Ireland.

Get Ireland Walking invites all who are interested in walking to participate. All you have to do is gather a group of people within your community, register your group here and enjoy a friendly walk on 30th September.

Walking Groups who are already registered with Get Ireland Walking are welcome and encouraged to take part in the National Walking Day and can register their group for the event here also.

All who take part and have registered are in with a chance of winning one out of twenty great prizes! All you need to do is post a 20-30 second video of your walk to your Facebook or Twitter page, tagging Get Ireland Walking and using the hashtag (#NWD2018). The walking leaders who lead the most creative and colourful walks will receive a prize.
