Gaisce – The President’s Award announce appointments to Leadership Team

Gaisce – The President’s Award is delighted to announce new appointments to the Leadership Team of the organisation.

Karol Quinn – Head of Programme and Strategic Development

Karol Quinn has been promoted to Head of Programme and Strategic Development at Gaisce, having previously held the position of Learning and Evaluation Programme Manager at the organisation.

Karol takes on the role with over 20 years of working in the Youth Sector. Prior to his previous role with Gaisce, He was with Young Social Innovators and before that with Scouting Ireland in Educational and Programme roles.

He is a graduate of the National University of Ireland, Maynooth where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in History, Philosophy and French and Master of Social Science, Community and Youth Work. He also holds a Diploma in Business Studies and Human Resource Management from the National College of Ireland, a specialist certificate in Youth Health Promotion from the National University of Galway and a certificate in Equality Studies from Maynooth.

Sarah Gallagher – Head of Communications and Engagement

Sarah Gallagher has been appointed as Head of Communications and Engagement at Gaisce.  With extensive experience working in the public relations and marketing sector, Sarah was a previously a director with O’Leary PR & Marketing.  More recently she acted as marketing consultant with the Women’s Mini Marathon along with providing freelance PR and marketing consultancy to a range of PR companies and brands.

Sarah is a graduate of University College Dublin, and holds a Masters in Public Relations with TU Dublin.

Both Karol and Sarah will join the Leadership team within Gaisce.

Paul Darby – National Development Manager

Paul Darby has also been promoted to the position of National Development Manager with Gaisce.  He previously held the positions of Development Officer and Development Team Lead with the organisation.

Paul studied Social and Community Studies in Carlow IT and worked as a school completion project officer with the Curragh/Kildare cluster before joining Gaisce in 2019.

Hannah Dempsey – Communications Officer

In addition, Hannah Dempsey has been appointed as Communications Officer with Gaisce.  Hannah joins Gaisce from ClearStory International, where she held the position of Event PR and Awards Executive.  She graduated from IADT with a BA in Arts Management.

Commenting on the appointments, Avril Ryan, Chief Executive of Gaisce – The President’s Award said: “As Ireland’s National Youth Award, the appointment of such strong and experienced professionals to our team reflects Gaisce’s ongoing commitment to bringing Gaisce into the lives of as many young people in Ireland as possible, particularly as we look ahead to Gaisce’s 40th Anniversary in 2025”.
