Gaisce – The President’s Award is delighted to invite applications for LikeMinded, a new LGBTI+ youth programme commencing in 2019.

We are seeking 12 young people aged 15 -17 who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning to take part.

We are also seeking 12 adult mentors who are interested in supporting LGBTI+ young people on their Gaisce journey through 1-to-1 mentoring.

Gaisce, with the support of the Social Innovation Fund Ireland, will deliver this pilot programme for LGBTI+ young people from in and around Dublin. Participants and Mentors will be asked to commit to the programme between February and July 2019. The programme will follow the structure of a Bronze Gaisce Award programme but with additional elements to support LGBTI+ youth including 1-to-1 mentoring, bi-monthly facilitated peer group meetings, an organised adventure journey during the summer holidays and an award ceremony in September 2019.

The programme will offer a safe space to twelve young people, and successful participants will gain a Bronze Award, or a Silver if they already have a bronze award. The programme will let young people demonstrate their individuality, explore ideas or issues relevant to them as an LGBTI+ group and most importantly have the opportunity to undertake their Gaisce Award journey with likeminded people. Each participant will be paired with a mentor.

The deadline for applications for both participants and mentors is 5pm on Friday the 25th of January 2019. Applications can be emailed to or posted to LikeMinded, Ratra House, North Road, Phoenix Park, Dublin 8, D08 YD62.
