This year, we will be marking Lá Gaisce on Wednesday, October 22nd 2025, a day to recognise and celebrate all things Gaisce.

What is Lá Gaisce?

Lá Gaisce, meaning Gaisce Day, is our annual celebration of the achievements, efforts, and growth of young people across Ireland taking part in Gaisce – The President’s Award. It’s also a chance to recognise the PALs (President’s Award Leaders) and organisations who make these journeys possible through their continued support and encouragement.

How to Celebrate Gaisce Day

There are many simple ways to mark the day.

For Participants and Awardees

  • Share your Gaisce story on social media. Post a photo or short video about your journey, favourite activity, or what you’ve learned. Tag us @GaisceAward / @Gaisce – The President’s Award.

  • Do a group activity with others – a walk, hike, volunteering activity, or skill-sharing session.

  • Thank your PAL. A simple chat, message, or post of appreciation goes a long way!

  • Reflect on your progress. Write down what you’ve achieved so far and what you want to complete next. Highlight what the Award meant to you and how it has shaped your path.

  • Wear your Gaisce pin with pride and share with others what it represents.

For PALs and Leaders

  • Celebrate your participants’ efforts with a class or group shout-out.

  • Host a short ceremony or award presentation.

  • Share why you are a President’s Award Leader, and what motivates and inspires you in your role.

  • Encourage your participants to talk about what Gaisce means to them.

For Schools and Organisations

  • Highlight your Gaisce Participants on your website or newsletter.

  • Display photos or posters celebrating this year or past Gaisce journeys.

  • Host a lunchtime event, walk, or coffee morning for students or staff involved in Gaisce.

  • Invite a past Awardee to speak about their experience.

We’ll be running a competition on the day to win some Gaisce goodies. Join the celebration on social media, use #LáGaisce, and tag us to be entered. The winner will be chosen at random. T&Cs apply. Please ensure you have consent before sharing any photos.
