Gaisce is the most prestigious youth award in Ireland and is a challenge to young people from the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins to dream big and realise their potential.

March 16th is National #FlagDay2023, which marks the 175th anniversary of the first flying of the Irish flag! 🇮🇪
The Thomas F. Meagher Foundation is a Gaisce #ChallengePartner, with many Gaisce participants getting involved today in their school or workplace.
National Flag Day is an opportunity to promote pride and learning about the Irish Flag in active citizenship and welcoming inclusivity by recognising the flags of all nationalities in your community. 💚

Gaisce - Cúpla focal agus mar shampla!
@presidentirl Michael D. Higgins has previously said:
"Seachtain na Gaeilge provides such an opportunity, one that enables us to engage or re-engage with the language. The main thing is to use your Gaeilge, encourage others to do likewise and enjoy yourselves in the process."
Bain triail as. Bain sult as!

On Monday we were delighted to attend an event organised by Women For Election (@women4electionire), held at the Houses of the Oireachtas (@oireachtas_news).
Marking #InternationalWomensDay2023, women from diverse, disability and minority groups countrywide, were welcomed into the Dáil chamber to engage with the Women’s Caucus on the theme ‘Gender Equality in Politics’.
We learnt that only 23% of TD’s are women and the gendered barriers they face when seeking to enter political life are neatly summarised as the ‘5 Cs’ - that is, cash, care, confidence, culture, and candidate selection.
It is hoped that the future of Irish politics is a Dáil that truly represents the population in the years to come.

We are proud supporters of Seachtain na Gaeilge and are always delighted to hear about participant award achievements and PAL experiences as Gaeilge. 😊
If you are taking part in a Gaisce Award, why not consider how you can incorporate the language into one of your Challenge Areas or share your Gaisce experience through our beautiful language throughout the year! 🙌
@presidentirl Michael D. Higgins has previously said: "While many of us have the opportunity to use our Irish regularly, there is a real value in having an annual festival to encourage those who are new to the language, or who have not used what they have for some time. Irish is such a beautiful, expressive medium of communication, that connects us so deeply with our surroundings, with our past with nature and with each other." 💛
