Be part of marking the journey thousands of young people take every year on the path to self-development.
About Lá Gaisce
#LáGaisce will be marked up and down Ireland in schools, youth services, colleges and communities on Wednesday 26 October 2022!
It’s a day to celebrate Gaisce stories from participants and Gaisce Awardees, as well as the work of the President’s Award Leaders (PALs).
Your Way: Your Award
Let’s celebrate #LáGaisce!
#LáGaisce will be held again this year and marked up and down Ireland in schools, youth services, colleges and communities on Wednesday 26 October 2022!
We’re calling all past Gaisce Awardees to wear their Award pin(s) proudly on the day.
Get involved in #LáGaisce
💡 Some ideas for Lá Gaisce:
- Organise your Bronze or Silver Award ceremony for Wednesday 26th, invite a local celebrity and/or local mayor to support and address the group.
- A group volunteering activity: co-ordinate litter picks with the local tidy towns group, playing music for a local nursing home, a no-uniform day to raise money for your school/organisation’s charity,
- Make sure everyone who is interested is signed up to begin their Gaisce Award or is encouraged to begin their Silver or Gold
- Making baked goods to share around or to bring home later to family
- If you received a Gaisce Award Partner plaque and you haven’t yet affixed it to a visible wall or if you have and didn’t mark and celebrate it, make October 26th the day!
Handy Resources
Noticeboard Takeover!
You don’t have to print all of the following resources, but they are there if you would like!
- Have you a noticeboard that your Gaisce participants can take over to highlight the Gaisce Award in your school/service/club?
- Can you set up a table/stand in an open area at break time to chat to other students about Gaisce? Can you bring in Gaisce themed baked goods?
- Can you use a whiteboard to write out words that relate to Gaisce – take pictures and add to #LáGaisce to be in with a chance to win merch!
Win Gaisce Merch!
SHARE, TAG & MENTION TO BE ENTERED INTO THE LÁ GAISCE COMPETITION!
Share your story with a photo or video clip, include the hashtag #LáGaisce and tag us @GaisceAward!
The winners will be identified by a member of the Gaisce team by observing social media activity throughout the day on October 26th.
The winner will be contacted online but the prize will only be sent after it is confirmed they are a current and active Gaisce participant and after they agree to receive the prize. Delivery costs will also be covered.
In so far as possible all competition prizes are sourced in the Republic of Ireland.
Who is supporting Lá Gaisce?
We’ll be adding a feed here of what key public representatives are showing support for young people engaging in the Gaisce Award programme!
Keep an eye out and watch this space 😊
