What is Gaisce Award’s Wavelength Programme?
Gaisce is a direct challenge from the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins to all young people aged 14-25 to dream big and realise their potential. This challenge is for all young people currently living in Ireland – regardless of your status. If you have refugee status or are currently seeking asylum in Ireland and you’re studying at UCD, this is for you.
Gaisce’s Wavelength programme is specifically designed to support and enable young people from these communities to participate and succeed in their Award.
Gaisce Awards are non-competitive and self-directed – which means you pick the activities, and you go at your own pace. At the end of your Gaisce journey you will gain a nationally and internationally recognised Award – a great addition to your CV.
You choose your own activities for each challenge area: develop a skill, help your community, get active and go on an adventure.
What does the Gaisce Award Journey look like?
A trained adult mentor, a President’s Award Leader (PAL), will support you throughout the process. Upon completing the Gaisce programme, you will receive a medal and certificate signed by the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.
