Gaisce – The President’s Award will host an online event titled ‘Just the Two of Us’ on Tuesday, November 16th from 10.30am -12pm.
This event will discuss the “how to” of the relationship between a young person and a youth worker through the lens of the Gaisce Award programme.

About this event

Analysis indicates that an estimated 60% of a Youth Justice Worker’s time is allocated to the building of relationships with young people. But what are the ‘active ingredients’ required to build these vital relationships?

The report, “Developing Effective Relationships Between Youth Justice Workers and Young People”, published by the Research Evidence into Policy, Programmes and Practice (REPPP) project in May 2021, offers evidence-based answers to this question.

The keynote speaker for this event will be Eoin O’Meara Daly, Research Fellow in Youth Justice with the REPPP Project in the School of Law, University of Limerick. Eoin will speak about this report and also about the work of the Action Research Project (2019-2021) that has been examining the ‘how to’ of relational work in Garda Youth Diversion Projects using 16 case study sites in Ireland.

This event is free to attend and open to anyone who works, volunteers in or has an interest in the area of youth work, youth justice work and youth development.
