Gaisce announces FIT’s Choose Tech programme as new Challenge Partner

Gaisce – The President’s Award is delighted to announce that FIT (Fastrack to Information Technology) has officially become a Gaisce Challenge Partner.

Challenge Partners support and involve young people to participate in one or more Gaisce Challenge Areas, allowing Gaisce participants to use relevant activities to count towards achieving their Award.

Established in 1999, FIT is dedicated to addressing the skills requirements of Ireland’s increasingly digitalised economy. Promoting inclusion and diversity, FIT consistently demonstrates that wider access to tech skills training leads to exciting career paths and quality employment opportunities for all those who have a curiosity and passion for technology.

FIT’s ‘Choose Tech’ programme, supported by Salesforce, seeks to engage young people aged 15-20, into the exciting world of tech at an earlier stage. The programme aims to inspire young people to learn new and develop existing skills and to provide support and information around the pathways available to a tech career including pre-tech and tech apprenticeships.

Speaking about the new partnership, Gaisce – The President’s Award CEO Yvonne McKenna said:

“We are delighted to have FIT on board as our newest Challenge Partner. Opportunities such as the Choose Tech programme will enable young people across the country to learn valuable digital literacy, skills and knowledge.”

FIT Choose Tech Programme School Liaison Officer Michelle Lambert said:

“We are delighted to be partnering with Gaisce -The President’s Award for the upcoming school year and hope all the Gaisce students will have fun learning about the world of technology and the opportunities available to them within it. We look forward to seeing the students and their PAL’s progress with the Choose Tech programme.”
