Gaisce – The President’s Award & Bohemian Football Club #DreamballIreland Competition

Create your Dream Ball

To mark World Refugee Day 2021 on June 20th, Gaisce – The President’s Award have teamed up with Bohemian Football Club and we’re calling on young people across Ireland to design their dream ball design – inspired by how sport and physical recreation brings us together, regardless of where you come from.

As part of the International UNHCR’s ‘Youth With Refugees’ Art Contest, we’re calling on young people in Ireland to use their artistic creativity to show solidarity with refugees and asylum-seekers all over the world.

So design your dream ball, share it on your socials using #DreamballIreland, and submit your design to before Friday 25th June @ 5pm.

Five winners will be chosen to win merch from Bohemian FC and Gaisce – The President’s Award!

Make sure that you follow us on Instagram and Twitter.

Who can participate?

Any young person based in Ireland (regardless of status) between the ages of 14-25 years, which aligns with the ages of young people who participate in the Gaisce Awards!

What is the theme of the contest?

The theme of the UNHCR contest is Together Through Sport.

Physical Recreation is a key challenge area as part of Gaisce – The President’s Award, and many young people participate in sports as part of their Gaisce Award journey of self-development. Gaisce – The President’s Award has teamed up with Bohemians FC, where sport, learning together, and inclusion is central to the club’s mission.

  • Being active with others connects us to a common goal
  • Feeling good in ourselves helps us to do good for others
  • Sharing a love of a sport or activity with others is special

How to submit your Dream Ball design:

You can draw by hand or on a computer or tablet. If you draw by hand, please scan or take a good quality picture of your drawing. We accept drawings in pdf, jpeg and png formats.

  • Use this template and draw within the two frames. If you cannot print or use the template, copy the two (hexagon & pentagon) shapes by hand and draw your design inside the shapes. Try to use a maximum of 3 different colors including white. Feel free to draw more abstract designs.

Submit your design to Gaisce:  Please put “Dreamball Ireland” in the subject of the email

What is up for grabs?

For #dreamballireland, the designs will be featured on Gaisce – The President’s Award and the Bohemian FC Socials!

There will be 5 winners chosen and each will receive a Gaisce AND a Bohs FC goodie bag.

How will your #dreamballireland art be judged?

2 young people who are part of Gaisce – The President’s Award Wavelength Programme, which supports asylum seekers and refugees in Ireland to participate in the Gaisce Awards, along with a representative from Bohemian FC will judge the Award. Those involved in judging cannot win the competition or enter.

When is the deadline?

The deadline for both competitions is June 25th, 5pm.

You can also submit the same design to the International Competition with UNHCR:

The UNHCR will chose the five best designs to be turned into footballs. The balls will be stitched by refugees and host community members in Kenya, through an ethical ball manufacturing company called “Alive and Kicking”.
